Re: Unable open .tif files

Looking at the file size of the TIFFs on the page you link to, a possible reason that they can't be opened might be that their pixel dimensions when opened require more ram than can be addressed by a 32-bit Windows application.

You might try again using the XnView MP 64-bit version...

Re: Copy filename without extension to clipboard.

Does your window show extensions at all? Because that is not enabled by default In the XnView MP file browser, extensions are shown on my computer although they are currently off globally in Windows, but I have had extensions enabled recently, but they are still dispayed after closing and restartin...

Re: Copy filename without extension to clipboard.

@ trevzilla : In my XnView MP 0.86, selecting a file in the browser selects just the filename without the extension, so that would be just two operations with Ctrl - C. I'm not sure if might be due to a different XnView MP setting, or possibly because my Windows 7 is set for 'single click to select'...

Re: Copy filename without extension to clipboard.

It should be possible to do what you want using any one of a number of macro keystroke recorders... You could look for example at AutoHotKey , a heavyweight general purpose scripting utility, or possibly at TinyTask among others. Or, in the absence of other suggestions if our estimed archivist doesn...

Re: When DNG opened in fullscreen, does XnView change DNG content/RGB?

I mean, the message "This picture will be converted to RGB with 8bits per component" seems inoffensive when I open image in fullscreen, just a "read" operation XnView is performing, but it can't harm/affect the DNG content actually. Is this understanding right? Yes, as long as y...

Re: When DNG opened in fullscreen, does XnView change DNG content/RGB?

When I open a DNG file in XnView fullscreen, the following message always appears: "This picture will be converted to RGB with 8bits per component". What does it mean? Is XnView changing the DNG content? The image will be opened as RGB 8-bits per pixel as XnView software currently (and as...

Re: Batch convert to transparency?

That [NConvert command line] seemed to work well for the letters I tested initially which were black and white scans ... but failed when I tested a colour scan: the problem seemed to be that when the image was converted to paletted colour, nominally white canvas wasn't converted to pure white even ...

Re: Batch convert to transparency?

Thank you for your customary detailed response: not only possible, but a choice of methods... My considered use case arises directly from my freely-admitted perfectionist personality trait: I need to prepare a file containing copies of a series of letters in which carefully selected text is highligh...

Now that you've provided more detail, I think this could be related to this recently reported Windows 10 Creators Update issue:

Batch convert to transparency?

@ XnTriq : You are the transparency expert, and I have little knowledge of (and normally little need for) transparency... Looking at your helpful post a while back Way to produce a transparent canvas? in which both methods supported by XnView require a user step to select the transparency colour, I ...

Draw tool - Constrain line angle with Shift

The Draw tool was a very welcome addition to XnView MP :D. But just one more request please: In drawing programs, there is a convention when drawing a line that holding down the Shift key constrains the angle drawn to multiples of some angle value, typically 0 45 90 or 0 30 60 90 ... That option wou...

NConvert Help file - TIFF format

The NConvert Help file lists .tiff as a supported TIFF format extension, but .tif also seems to be supported although not listed...
