If using the option to send an email to another forum member reveals the sender's email address, as I think it does, this is an issue you might reasonably raise on the phpBB forum, as that popular forum platform is used not only by xnview but also by many other forums.

Initial posts by new members have to be approved which results in some delay, does that explain your issue?

If you post in the XnResize section of the forum there should be no problem, unless of course you wish to post spam!

All notifications are sent as plain text ( Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 ). Unfortunately, most mail clients and webmail services automatically create a hyperlink from URLs and email addresses. As far as I know, there's no word censoring for topic titles in phpBB :-|

I just checked the spam folder of my Gmail account and found all missing topic reply notifications (one week's worth) there.
These e-mails were sent from the same address to the same address for the past seven years, and all over sudden Gmail decides they're spam? That's odd :?
I've got another e-mail from **** today. His notifications also turned out to be eaten by an overzealous spam filter.
Again, I don't know what to make of this, but it has to be related to the new server. (Perhaps the sender IP has changed.)

So, if other members start complaining, we can tell them to put newsgroup[ät]xnview[döt]com on their whitelist.
BTW: Topic reply notifications still don't work properly, but this time it's not Gmail's fault.
OK, now I know for sure. I did not get the majority of notifications for the “***** ********” topic.
What's more: The ones I received sometimes did not arrive in chronological order.

I think we should — at least temporarily — change this setting to see if that fixes the problem:

This is the number of maximum e-mails sent out in one package. This setting is applied to the internal message queue; set this value to 0 if you have problems with non-delivered notification e-mails.
I registered, several months ago, many topics in this forum but I get no more warning mail for weeks, although new posts or topics are open.
I don't see any problems in the Error log ( Administration Control Panel » Maintenance » Forum logs ), Pierre.
The E-mail settings ( General » Client communication ) also seem to be correct.

Same here. I received three e-mail notifications since Dec 03, 2014 but the thread shows no update.

I assume you're referring to the Shell Extension sticky. Bots often post to the first topic in the forum or sub-forum with the highest post count.

I've come to believe that we should also consider this (rather unorthodox) anti-spam concept:
This is an experiment: Since most spammers post to the first forum, I have setup a spam trap forum. I will delete all messages in this forum and close down accounts, so do not post here!
• The spam trap @TC is both a good and bad idea : It worked maybe 10 times or so, no more…
Quickly, the spammers spotted it, then continued to put their craps anywhere in all sections… :|
- The strong point in the TC forum is that any Mod may lock the fake accounts. The weak point is that a Mod can only delete the craps in the sections where he has rights; i.e., I've rights in almost all sections, except in the “ User to User ” sections (in extra languages like Spanish etc.)
- The Mods of those sections aren't always connected, this leads to keep the craps for some hours… days ! :evil:
- Here, we miss a “Cleaner” member, especially in charge of the craps deleting… XnTriq -friend does this the most he can, but indeed he can't 24H / 24 !

Please follow these steps if you're not receiving notification e-mails:

Check the spam/junk folders of both your e-mail client and your webmail account for false positives.
Add newsgroup{ät}xnview{döt}com & contact{ät}xnview{döt}com to the whitelists of both your e-mail client and your webmail account.

I did keep an eye on my spam before erase but I'll add newsgroup@ and Image to my whitelist.
But if every thing seems to be in order, I still have problem.

You may also want to consider adding newsgroup@ and http://newsgroup.xnview.com/mail_address_pierre.gif to your whitelist .

This recent wave was all by one user, but we've been getting wave upon wave of spam for nearly a week now.

As you can see, spammers have some kind of humour :-)
