I've downgraded Ghostscript to version 9.56.1 and the behavior is different.
The white area is gone but also the top and right border.

Sorry for the late response.
We had similar reports, but no solution:

• Java Native Interface (JNI) api for nconvert.
• PDF to JPEG. Need it in Landscape.
• NConvert process returns exit code -2

Your test file opens normally in XnView MP 1.9.1 and 1.9.2 with Ghostscript 9.50 installed, so probably a Ghostscript version issue, there have been recent posts somewhere that are likely relevant. Tested in Linux Mint DEB versions.

... with no problem and don't have zero dimensions like above!

The files with thumbnails have exif information like this:

The files with no thumbnails have no exif Ghostscript info.

Still doesn't open, GS 9.50 still the installed Ghostscript version... :(

As stated, a similar unexplained issue has arisen periodically over the years, probably usually reported in Windows, this is likely the first time that a test file has been posted.
