When the Favourite is non-existent

Post by Brother Gabriel-Marie »

Today I clicked on one of the folders in the favourites panel and nothing happened.
Well, the little black arrow turned, but that was all. The navigation didn't change, and the path in the address bar did not change.

Than I realized that the directory didn't exist.

So I think that if a favourite folder no longer exists, MP should tell the user that the path to that directory doesn't exist.

Reproduced in v0.84. As suggested by Brother Gabriel-Marie a message box asking whether the favorite should be removed should be displayed (just like in XnView Classic).
"This favorite points to a folder which doesn't exist.
Do you want to delete the favorite "<favorite name>"?"

O.k., thank you, I can also reproduce the problem. Issue 1229 is fixed in next version.

I'd test this, but I don't know how to get a new non-existent folder into the favourites panel.... you can't just add it, you know.

Fixed in 0.87 beta 1, test procedure see below.

Created a folder, started 0.86, added the folder to the Favorites pane.
Stopped 0.86 and started it again, the favorite worked.
Stopped 0.86, deleted the folder in Explorer, started 0.86, clicked on the new favorite, nothing happened.

Created another folder, started 0.87 beta 1, added the folder to the Favorites pane.
Stopped 0.87 beta 1 and started it again, the favorite worked.
Stopped 0.87 beta 1, deleted the folder in Explorer, started 0.87 beta 1, clicked on the new favorite, a message appeared that the folder didn't exist, with the question if the favorite should be removed.
Anwering No leaves the favorite in the list, anwering Yes deletes the favorite.

In 0.88 I just stumbled over this bug. There seems to be a regression.
I can even test it from within XnView MP:

Create folder,, fill it with pictures
bookmark folder
select a different folder
use bookmark -> works

rename this folder
select a different folder
use bookmark -> nothing happens

By the way: Not being able to manage bookmarks (edit/rename/delete/ORDER) from within the program is really below the high standards of this otherwise good software!
But anyway, keep up the great work!

Best regards

in fact, the issue was fixed in the favorite pane, not by menu...

Oops, the favorites pane ... to be honest I hadn't even noticed it exists! Here it works.
Now the only thing I can't get to work is manual sorting. It seems they are always just added at the bottom? Although last time I tried I thought they get sorted alphabetically. Anyway I would like to drag and drop them.
Best regards
