Hi.
I'm working on a few spritesheet for a retro videogame.
So for the first time I wanted to use the grid of Xnview.
I'm very disappointed because that grid it's very limited. You can choose the dimension of each square of the grid in pixels only.
But mor important that grid doesn't zoom up and down when you zoom the picture. It's always at the same dimension.
The size of the squares it refers to "screen space" and so if you choose for example a grid of 20pixel it will always be 20 pixel on the monitor even if you zoom in the photograph.
I think that you should add a "screen pixel/image pixel" switch in the panel to set the grid!
Thank you.

so you would like to have an option to zoom into the grid? grid width stay with 1 pixel?
Pierre.
Re: A new grid system in which grid zoom in and out with the
I'm sorry for my bad english. I know it's hard to understand me.
I try with an example.
In Photoshop you can specify the widht of the grid as in Xnview.
But when you zoom in and zoom out the picture the grid will zoom in and out accordingly so that all the lines of the grid will be always in the same position in the picture.
Instead in Xnview the grid doesn't zoom when you zoom the picture! So it is useless!

This is exactly what jeeg shows in his examples.jeeg wrote:...I think that you should add a "screen pixel/image pixel" switch in the panel to set the grid!...
At the moment the dialogue asks for "width and height in pixels", which are based on the pixels of the screen. Zooming into the picture -> more screen-pixels are used -> more grids are displayed.
If the dialogue offers also a setting based on the pixels of the image, then zooming would not change the number of the grids.
I support his suggestion too.

A simple toggle in the grid settings might work:
- (•) Use image pixels
( ) Use screen pixels
