Support for lip files

Post by jeeg »

Hello.
I'm a user of "Manga studio Ex" a awesome painting program for comic-manga-illustration artists.

This application save in a particular format called "lip". Is it possible for Xnviewto support this format?

The lip format is also used by the application "Clip Studio Paint Ex" that is the japanese version of Manga Studio and is quite famous among artists.

So with the support of lip format you make happy lots of artists around the world.

Sorry for the delay (I subscribed the thread but I didint' receive any email).

I uploaded a stupid lip file here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?9lb30h8dpkad9c4

Maga studio has two type of layers. Raster layers and vectorial layers. So I paint a few strokes on the vector layer and the same stroke on the raster layer.
I also added a simple image with copy and paste to another layer.

I don't know if it is a good example file. If you need more inputs and example just ask!

Yes, CLIP STUDIO / Manga Studio files would be an amazing addition!
The CLIP STUDIO application has just recently been released in English (formerly Japanese only), so I imagine it will become much more popular. It's really an incredible digital art suite.

Xnview, there's some (large) sample .lip files on their site:
http://www.clipstudio.net/en/dl

They also have available a fully functional Trial of the application on there too:
http://www.clipstudio.net/en/purchase/trial

CLIP provides thumbs for Windows Explorer in both x86 and x64 environments (I think they also provide thumbs for OSX, but I cannot verify). I'm not sure how thumbnailing functions, but when poking around in the registry I found references to LipPreview.dll (which is installed in the application directory).
I've uploaded it here (I don't know if it's any use on its own?) in case you don't feel like installing the application:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/9j3w6 ... review.zip

Thank you for your time!

sorry for the bump but i simply can't view any .lip file, no matter what i do -- not even thumbnails are being generated and the browser just displays the standard icon

considering the previous reply and this thread here i understand these files are already supported, do i have to activate some option or get a plugin to view these files?

i've tested this on the latest xnview-mp, in both windows 8.1 32 bit and linux 64 bit to no avail

ps. i'm trying to open .lip files generated by "mangastudio 5 ex", not .clip files by "clip studio paint", i'm not sure if there's some difference format-wise but afaik there shouldn't be

sorry for the delay; i'm unsure on how big/complex you need the sample file to be so i'm just sending a triangle using three layers, raster, vector and tone for the sake of simplicity and size, i can provide more complex illustrations if needed though

A LIP file is an image file created by Clip Studio Paint, The LIP file was replaced by the .CLIP file when Clip Studio Paint moved from the Clip Studio Paint format to the Clip Studio format in version 1.5.4. The newer format in CLIP files allows for quicker load and save times as it is a lighter format than the old Clip Studio Paint format in LIP files. You can still save your images as LIP files in Clip Studio Paint version 1.5.4 or later, however, the LIP file will no longer be able to be opened in versions 1.4.4 and earlier after it is edited in versions 1.5.4 and later.

Clip Studio Paint (a.k.a Manga Studio) is what I use now with my XP-Pen Artist 12 Pro ( https://www.xp-pen.com/product/479.html ) drawing tablet with screen , and I really like it alot! It's not free and there's really no way to get it "for free" either. I bought mine for $55. It only took a few days to learn my way around the interface. It has a lot of cool decorative brushes, and you have a few more pens to use to make nice linearts with. It has a stablizer too, (but I think SAI's is much more efficient.) If you want to make comics/manga it's got more than enough tools to help you -- including a text option.
