Renaming to EXIF image number fails

Post by wolfgangbeyer »

Hi,

my images taken with a Canon IXUS 850 IS have an EXIF entry called "image number" as I can read from the EXIF viewer. I like to use it as part of the file name but unfortunately this entry is not offered in Batch rename > Name template > Insert. I only find <"Image-ID"> but this seems to be empty. Entering <"image number"> manually also fails. I guess the problem is that it is a parameter from the EXIF section "Makernotes" wheras XnView offers so far only the sections "Camera" and "Image"? Is there any solution for this problem like a special syntax as <"Makernotes/Image number"> for instance? Or should I post my question again in the forum suggestions?
