works fine with me , on my Vista system ,
you can also try to install the XNVIEW shell-extension,
available on the XNview website

There seems to be a special 64-bit version,
do you happen to have the 64-bit Vista ?

I have no idea's left, except some permission-problems:

hi there.

I too am having problems with XnView entries appearing in my context menu.

I'm running v1.96.2 on vista home premium SP2 32bit.

The system Integration option ("add 'browse with xnview' to context menu") is ticked, as is "add xnview to 'Send to' context menu".

Unfortunately, no such 'browse with xnview' appears as a context entry... although an entry for xnview does appear in the Send to menu.

I've not tried the xnview shell extension, as it offers much more functionality than I require.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Gary

ok...

I believe I've worked out the problem - it was me!

It appears that the "browse with xnview" context entry is only active for folders of images... not individual pictures i.e. the entry in the context menu appears when clicking on a directory, not a single file.

Having said this, it's annoying that you don't have this single file option - I know you can select "open with..." but it's easier to have a command in the root menu.

Also, as in my case, my default application for viewing images ISN'T XnView... so it would be handy to have a direct command to open a given image with XnView, if required.

Cheers,

Gary

I have solved it on Win7 Pro 64bit

The only issue is that you need to "Run as Administrator" when you place the tick, and you can remove the "Run as Administrator" later

1. Go to XnView Icon
2. Right Click > Properties
3. Click [compatibility] tag
4. Tick "Run as Administrator" / You may need to test as "add to all users"
5. Click Apply & Close
6. Run XnView
7. Go to Tools > Options > System Integration
8. Tick (Add Browse with XnView to Context menu)
9. Click OK

If you are annoyed by the windows popup security message, remove the tick for "Run as Administrator",
the XnView System integration stays in the context menu.

This Worked for me.
