Thumbnails for .RAM files

Postby r7pkz8sctjn6x90 » Wed May 13, 2009 2:02 pm

Is there a way to make XnView display thumbnails for .RAM (and .RV for that matter) files (it does for .RM)?
I know .RAM are supposed to be link to streamed version, but many times the actual downloaded video has the extension .RAM instead of .RM.

:) Hello,

• This extension is not part of the supported formats, as far as I see…

The point is it's the same as RM!
BTW where is the list of supported formats you're reffering to?

:) Hello !

• The list can be found :
1. From the Info Menu >> Supported formats,
2. Easier to browse HERE ONLINE
- You could attempt too :
a. Disable the Option “Recognize… only by extensions”
b. Add RAM onto the Include field in the Option page “File list”, please see THERE.

Please see topic 'Does XnView support graphic format .xyz?' for helpful information.

If I got you right, the problem is just the different file extension. Please uncheck "Recognize only by extension" in Tools > Options | Browser | File List | Tab 'Misc'.

Perhaps Pierre can enhance the image recognition by extension so that .RAM files are recognized as .RM files.

Thank you, guys, but none of it worked.
The extension is hardcoded into the .EXE.
So what I eventually did is look for "RM" in the file, found a list of extensions for creating thumbnails out of video files and overwritten one of them to "RAM".

Here's the original list:
rm, mkv, wmv, m2v, 3gp, asf, divx

So the only thing to do is add ram to the list for the next version of XnView.

BTW, extensions can be added to file list's video category with the old alpha Qt (pronounced "cutie"?) version. Perhaps renaming file can serve as workaround also.

Pierre (et al): Any objectives to add file extension ".rm" as RAM file?

Thank you very much.

BTW It's the other way around. The extension .RM is already there, the .RAM has to be added.
And the extension MP4 would be nice to produce thumbnails as well. ;-)
