1.96: MultiPage Scanning problem

Post by tft »

Hi, I've read some previous posts on this topic which seem to have been fixed though it continues to be an issue for me,

http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=16503

Let me detail it out a bit.

1. I put say 3 pages into the scanner (document feeder)
2. I select 'Acquire into...'
3. Enter 'scan_page_' as a filename
4. I select TIFF (or PDF) and make sure the "Save as Multipage" is checked-off
5. I press Scan

and I end-up with,

A. First page is saved as 'scan_page_1'
B. Second (third, etc) pages show up as separate tabs within Xnview as "scan 1", "scan 2", etc

I don't get any multipages for whatever reason.

I'm using Windows-XP (SP3) and an HP Scanjet 5590 and since I'm using the 'Document Feeder' I don't get the dialog box which asks 'Do you want to continue batch scanning".

Let me know if I'm doing something wrong or if this is a known issue.

Regards.

I've just experimented with putting one page into the document feeder at a time and that seems to work just fine. In other words, I get multipage scans if I feed the scanner one page at a time but that defeats the whole purpose of having a feeder, no ?

Are there any further settings (tricks, etc) that I should be aware of in order to attain multipage scans while using the document feeder as it was intended to be used (with multiple pages in it) ?

Thanks.

Using the WIA interface, I see similar behavior except that I'm trying to create a PDF so instead of scan_page_1 I see scan01.pdf. It contains only the first of three pages. Pages two and three open in XnView but are never saved to disk.

On the other hand, if I use the TWAIN interface, XnView always crashes after processing the first scan (XP and Vista).

It works fine if I don't use the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) but of course this isn't ideal.

I never get the dialog "Do you want to continue batch scanning?", but I think this is good when using the ADF because I don't want the prompt after each sheet of paper.

I'm using XnView 1.96.2 with a Brother MFC-490cw. XP and Vista

I've discovered that the problem isn't related to creating a multipage file (tiff/pdf). I see the same problem with PNGs (for example) so the main problem is scanning more than one page from the scanner's ADF.

Hi,

I encounter a similar problem with 1.96, even the latest 1.96.2 has the same problem. Some details as below:
1. In Xnview, select Acquire Into....
2. Save as .jpg files
3. In the scanner side, grey scale is selected and using doc feeder.
4. Xnview crash after scanned the first page.

PS.
1. Using doc feeder to scan several pages into xnview do not cause any error.
2. Previous version of Xnview, say, 1.93 do not have this problem.

I have the same problem as Pete with 196.2, scanning with twain Brother MFC 7820 scanner, saving as pdf , XP PRO SP3.

When using the ADF XnView crashes after the first page.

I do not have "save as multipage" checked because I want individual files for each page.

I have had to go back to 194.2 to do my work

I do not use the WIA mode.

Please let me know when this is fixed.
