RC2: Screensaver Slideshow problem

Post by ckit »

After selecting a screensaver made with XnView 1.80 RC2 in the dropdown list - Screensaver area, the screensaver plays immediately when it should only display a small preview in the monitor above the dropdown list.

XnView 1.80 <x>
AMD Ryzen 3 3300X 3.8Ghz, 16Gb DDR4, RX6600XT with Dell U2520D at 2560x1440@60Hz
Windows 11 Pro x64 23H2, PowerToys and Wintoys

1. Right-click on Windows Desktop
2. Choose Properties -> Screen Saver
3. Choose the screensaver that was created by XnView

Now instead of it being a selected screensaver with preview, it plays immediately after being selected which is annoying.

Also I have noticed that if Windows is using a screensaver made by XnView, it can easily be disabled by running a XnView-EXE slideshow which is also annoying.

XnView create stand alone EXE, so perhaps there is some modifications to make to be a TRUE screensaver.

the solution is simple: make the exe terminate immediately when run with the -s command line argument. a more complex solution would be to actually make a preview run in the preview window when run with the -s argument.
