Problem with Viewer: Image flipped horizontally

Post by davidal »

I recently downloaded and used the XnView so maybe it's not a bug:
When i'm using the viewer to see the folder the images are seen correctly. the selected image in the lower pane also is seen as it should.
But when I switch to one image view the image is always flipped horizontally. I already turned off the "rotate image by EXIF"

Is it a bug or is there another option I need to know?

Thank you for registering to the XnView forum and your request, davidal.

It's very strange that your images are flipped horizontally. Are these JPEG images? Could you perhaps post (attach) a sample image which causes problems?

I'm attaching 2 pictures.
The first has the Horizontal flip and the second has a vertical flip.
Those images are flipped only on XnViewer. I can see them fine on the folder view or any other software
such as Paint.

Thank you for uploading a sample image, davidal. I've downloaded the image and opened it in XnView Classic 2.39 without any problems: No flipping and no rotation (text on the T-Shirt can be read).

- Do you view your image in Fullscreen (only image is displayed) or in View mode (image, menu and toolbar are shown)?
- How do you open your image (double-click, shortcut, ...)?
- Are the images rotated (90° or 180°) or mirrored?

Welcome to the forum, davidal.

Is the attachment an unaltered version of the troublesome file? Or IOW: Was the photo processed in any way (e.g. resized) before you uploaded it?

Thanks for the quick response.
I open it by double clicking it. It openes in the window. when I press F11 to swich to fullscreen it shows the same.
The image is mirrored horizintally. I found oone picture that is mirrored vertically but maybe it's because i rotated it using another
software a while back. I've added it to this thread.

How to reproduce:
  1. Cycle through all available languages with Alt+F12 or go to ToolsOptions...InterfaceInterface and select one of the following languages:
    • ?? ??? ???? ????? -[Hebrew] ????? (xnviewhe.dll)
    • ???? [Arabic] by Mohammad Deep ???? ??? (xnviewar.dll)
    • ???? [Farsi]-By: Morteza Emamiour (xnviewfa.dll)
  2. Restart XnView.
  3. Open FIRST.jpg.
The photo is displayed horizontally mirrored: “SNAEJ PAG“ + “DNALGNE DROFXO” vs. “OXFORD ENGLAND” + “GAP JEANS” :bugconfirmed:

Isn't Hebrew read from right to left? ;) Very good that you've found the steps to reproduce this one, XnTriq! :)

XnTriq Was on the spot.
The problem is in the interface for hebrew.
I changed it to English and restarted it. Now everything is normal.
