Postby XnTriq » Mon Oct 18, 2010 11:45 pm

  • Lucian Sabo's RIOT
    A free program designed to efficiently optimize images for the Web
    • RIOT XnView AddOn
      Pierre-e Gougelet, the author of XnView, created an addon to use RIOT in it’s well known viewer.
      Now XnView users have RIOT integrated into their favorite viewer to be able to easily optimize pictures using RIOT.
    • DLL version
      The RIOT addon for XnView is accesible after installing by selecting Filter->RIOT if an image is viewed or Tools->Plugin->RIOT in the XnView file browser.
  • XnView.com
    • Additional Downloads » Addons
      Allows to use RIOT plugin, thanks to Lucian Sabo

luciansabo (RIOT Plugin Installer) wrote:As many of you probably know, there is a RIOT (Radical Image Optimization Tool) addon for XnView created by the XnView author - that is the addon not RIOT itself.
For users that don't know yet about RIOT, this is a free image optimization tool, very handy for reducing the image filesize.

In the past RIOT could be plugged into XnView only manually by copying the required files.
But now the RIOT addon for XnView comes as an easy to use installer.
The installation wizard will locate any supported host applications like XnView, IrfanView or GIMP and and automatically copy files to the proper location. No more troubles with copying FreeImage.dll and RIot.dll in the correct location !

The installer can be downloaded from the RIOT website:

Thanks Peter2 and XnTriq!
Just noticed that XnView 1.98.2 still has v0.4.1 included, not v0.4.6 and v0.5 must be close too!

http://luci.criosweb.ro/riot/changelog.txt wrote:* fixed r s h l v keys prohibited in batch->output path
* fixed filesize different single file vs batch mode if image is resized and using automatic mode.The original was analyzed instead of the resized one in batch mode.
* fixed RIOT stops opening images after switching to batch mode and back
* fixed scrollbar flicker
* fixed loading of TGA 8-bit files with a palette size greater that 256
* fixed TIFF parser didn't initialize the memory with zeros in stripped mode. This caused random bitmap data if the tiff file was corrupted/invalid.
