I'm getting the feeling that the development of XnView MP is going to take a much longer time than expected.
As for the linux world, it's interesting, that even the image viewer gqview (no development since 2006, but for me, still the best image viewer for linux (fast, reliable, RAW-support, color management support) seems to have got an successor/fork named "gqviewE", which hopefully will survive and be further developed.

Design decisions made early in the implementation of software can directly influence the labor needed later to incorporate functionality not anticipated at the beginning. This is particularly true for GUI enhancements. As a developer, I've learned this the hard way over the years.
Currently there are many outstanding UI enhancement requests (for XnView) that may be particularly difficult to graft onto (ie implement in) a "legacy" system such as the current version.
XnView MP represents an opportunity for Pierre to "start from scratch" with the core XnView architecture, especially for the user interface.
At least I'm hoping this is true. In the long run, a generalized, data-driven, and modular internal architecture for XnView MP would make it easier to maintain and enhance. ...and as usual I have many ideas about such as design.
My point is: such a "proper" implementation of XnView MP should take quite a while to build.

Yes , i try to do my best to be able to change quickly UI, and be very flexible...JohnFredC wrote: XnView MP represents an opportunity for Pierre to "start from scratch" with the core XnView architecture, especially for the user interface.
And i work again on MP version since 1 month onyl...
(I'll put a version for windows next week)
Pierre.
Thanks for this information Michael.
Gqview is very interesting, I especially like the high zoom level behavior and settings (4 choise), and even the Hyper mode is pretty fast.
It will be very interesting to also have these settings into XnviewMP.
I suggest to Pierre and others users to test them and to give feedbacks.
Edit/Preferences/setting/image/zoom/ quality:
Nearest (worst but fastest)
Tiles
Bilinear
Hyper (best but slowest)
