Have you tried changing the 'Maximum view tabs' to "1" ? -----------> the setting is in Settings > Interface > TabsZungao wrote:This opens a new tab for each image. Is it possible to prevent this and open only one tab per folder?
Yes, correctZungao wrote:Another question (new user here): what is the "Single view for multi opened files" option? I assumed that when turned "off", opening a selection of files would open one tab for each, and when "on" only one tab would open to show the selected files.
What file-opening method are you using to open your multi image files?? From Browser and from Windows file Drag & drop the setting when enabled does workZungao wrote:However I cannot see any diference and it allways behaves in the latter fashion.
Thanks, hadn't noticed that! To be perfect though, I'd like to have the option to set either:budz45 wrote:Have you tried changing the 'Maximum view tabs' to "1" ? -----------> the setting is in Settings > Interface > Tabs
I have a "Browser" tab with just a folder tree on the left and a tumbnails (large size) pannel on the right. To view a photo in full size I double click on it's thumbnail. To go back to the browser I double-click again.budz45 wrote:What file-opening method are you using to open your multi image files?? Do you really think that XnView MP should be able to open an unlimited amount of tabs? It is not a Internet Web Browser...Zungao wrote: "Maximum view tabs"=no limit
You would like an ability for a single view tab per folder...So that View tabs each opened for a folder directory? So that if opening another picture from Browser that is from the same folder it would switch to that already opened tab?Zungao wrote:"Maximum view tabs per folder"=1
Oh ok, the double-click switching methodZungao wrote:I have a "Browser" tab with just a folder tree on the left and a tumbnails (large size) pannel on the right. To view a photo in full size I double click on it's thumbnail. To go back to the browser I double-click again.
What is the result you are getting when you do this? The files you are multi selecting in the Browser are Image files, correct?Zungao wrote:When selecting several files by shift-clicking on them and then pressing enter it does not appear to work
I put no limit as a "figure of speech". I've set "tab limit"=1, but if the "tabs per folder" option were available I would use four or five tabs. However different people work in different ways and I wouldn't define an arbitrary number (such as 20 or 30). If however the current limit is 99 this should be (way) more than enough.budz45 wrote:Do you really think that XnView MP should be able to open an unlimited amount of tabs? They are all jpeg images. And only the first image of those selected opens.budz45 wrote:What is the result you are getting when you do this? The files you are multi selecting in the Browser are Image files, correct?
It is selected. And I've even closed and reopened XnViewMP between changes in case the setting would need a restart.budz45 wrote:Are you sure you have the feature enabled in the 'Settings'? Please also test this feature yourself with Drag & drop of multi image files from Windows Explorer, just as a test.
Thank you for the explanation. Yes the arbituary number of '99' is more than enough for the average user however I see the visual concern a user might have with he imposing of a limit.Zungao wrote: I put no limit as a "figure of speech". Ok, the 'tabs per folder' suggestion sounds like an interesting idea for a future feature and I can imagine the workflow. Perhaps as an experimental feature it could be added as an Ini Tweak (see topic).Zungao wrote:Preciselybudz45 wrote:So that if opening another picture from Browser that is from the same folder it would switch to that already opened tab?![]()
Right, so a bugZungao wrote: However, if I select a few thumbnails and press enter (or use the open option on the context menu) it always acts as if "Single view" is enabled, regardless of the setting.
