For the use with portable drives, there is only limited control over what drive letter will be assigned. However it seems that the thumbnail database works with static paths. So a path for thumbnails would be stored as D:/folder1/subfolder1 for example.
However if the portable drive gets attached to a different computer maybe drive letter G will be assigned. In this case, the thumbnailing will start again as xnviewmp will not recognize that only the drive letter has change.

This does not make sense. Paths should get stored relatively and independend from the assigned drive letter in the database. Just imagine you have 100.000 of photos and all you do is to attach it to another computer then XnvieMP starts thumbnailing them all again.
