About dialog: Link to .ini file

Postby helmut » Thu Mar 09, 2017 10:49 pm

In the About dialog (Help » About) there's the path and name of the .ini file used by XnView.

It's nice to have this info in the About dialog; it would be even nicer if this was a link the user could click on to open the config file.

Note: I do know that there is a "Open Config files location" button in Tools » Settings | Integration | Paths

...why do you want this?

Oh, perhaps I understand: to fiddle with the file. Why we cannot have for all user configurable settings a checkbox (or similar) in Tools | Settings?

When testing you have to deal with settings and resetting these many times. So basically it's for testing purposes.

This is definetely not what I want: Settings on the .ini file level should be (more or less) invisible to normal users.

There are some settings which should be - like ExpandUNCPath , VideoMode - there was a setting about all dialogs in tabs (which was it?) - these kinds of settings...

For such UI-less settings suggestions have been made, already:
- Simple list for special non-GUI settings
- Idea: Let's have Ini tweak input from About window

Yes, I know. This is what I am talking about. Now there is valuable knowledge about what these settings do which will disappear without a simple interface like this: viewtopic.php?t=34720
