0.85: Save to webp loses exif metadata

Postby erty » Tue Apr 11, 2017 1:23 am

XnView: MP 0.85 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 64bit

Both formats (JPEG and WebP) can store metadata at EXIF/XMP/ICC fields. But XnViewMP loose all metadata when I save jpeg as webp file.

Effect: I can't convert my photos to webp because don't want to loose metadata.

To reproduce:
1. take jpeg with exif
2. 'save as' webp
3. open webp file and see no metadata

Actual behaviour (bug): do not export metadata into webp format :bug:

Expected behaviour: want to save all possible metadata from jpeg to webp

The missing support of meta data in webp, jpg2000, and jxr is a suggestion.

Though I think it's a bug that there's no warning message box. I've created a bug report for this, see viewtopic.php?t=35429
