MP 0.32 Win: UTF-8 in IPTC not working

In the settings I have checked "Use UTF-8 to write IPTC fields", but when I enter some special characters into the IPTC fields they are converted to ASCII characters (e.g. Ł -> L).

It seems that the information is now correctly saved in UTF-8. In the edit-windows everything works fine, but if I display the information below the thumbs the characters are not displayed correctly. E.g. "ł" is displayed as "Å,".

Here is an example. The caption of this image is "Łąka". In the window for editing IPTC information this is displayed correctly, but in thumbnails view it is wrong. I also attach a screenshot.
