USB stick not detected

Post by m.Th. »

With XnView MP open when one inserts an USB stick, this isn't detected till the program restarts.

Some solutions:

1. Add the option to manually refresh the Folders Tree. I think that this must be implemented in any case. There are too many variables involved to not support this.

2. Support automatic detection:

+1 for no. 1.

with Linux at least (I'm happily saved from ever using m$ software again), when we create new folders they will not show up in the folder pane until a restart... so a refresh button would be a good improvement!

FYI: Me too, sometime I have to do that into Ubuntu 12.04 ... (unload the ehci_hcd module and try again)

Code: Select all

lspci |grep -i ehci
...
sudo modprobe -r ehci_hcd

This is an issue with Windows as well and probably with all platforms. I posted a bug report as "Detection of removable drive" some month ago. I mentioned also a workaround that may help diagnose the root cause of the problem:
http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=27685

At least, pressing F5 should do the work, which is not the case right now.

Reproduced. This problem forces the user to exit XnView and restart it which is cumbersome.

O.k., thank you, I can also reproduce the problem. Issue 1145 is fixed in next version.

It is fixed. However there are some problems with cards and card readers. Perhaps is better to open another topic on this (there are other OS events involved)

Thank you for retesting, m.Th.. Yes, it would be good if you posted a new bug report for the remaining problem.
