XnView MP 0.68 on Windows 7.
I ended up with a category database that is almost useless due to using what I thought was a logical workflow.
I started with unsorted pictures in many folders. I would go and highlight the image, categorize it using the categories pane, and then click "Move" to move it to a folder for categorized images.
The problem is that when I click move without changing to another file first, the metadata in the database is saved to the OLD location of the file, so the file (in its new location) ends up uncategorized, and there is now a database entry with no thumbnail nor information showing the file path as the old location of the file. If I set my categories, click away from the file to de-select it, re-select it, and then move, it seems to move properly and remain categorized in its new location.
Even trying a workaround of moving the file back to its original location (outside of XnView) and then using XnView to move it back won't work - I think because XnView remembers there being a file that name in the destination folder already. I've resorted to taking screenshots of my categories and then re-categorizing these files as the only thing I can do with this one. I wish I'd seen this before I ended up with hundreds of uncategorized files in my "categorized" folder.
