0.84: Many disk accesses when canceling ITPC/IIM dialog

Post by helmut »

XnView: MP 0.84
OS: Windows XP - 32 bit

When opening the IPTC/IIM dialog and closing it using "Cancel" button, it takes a short moment (<1second) to close the dialog but it sounds as if there are many (hard) disk accesses.

Effect: A bit irritating (minor)

To reproduce:
1. In XnView browser, select an JPG image file.
2. Press Ctrl+I to open the IPTC/IIM dialog
3. Select "Cancel" to close the IPTC/IIM dialog

Actual behaviour (bug): The dialog closes and there are many hard disks accesses when closing. :bug:

Expected behaviour: When canceling the IPTC/IIM dialog, the dialog should close without any hard disk accesses because nothing has changed.

O.k., thank you, I can also reproduce the problem. Issue 1120 is fixed in next version.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.85 beta 1. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Not fixed in 0.85 beta 1:

When pressing "Cancel" there are still about 50 write accesses. To see the disk accesses use the Windows Task Manager and add columns for read and write accesses.

The original problem is fixed. You have some write access in any dialog (settings)

O.k. I wonder whether dialog settings should be stored if the user presses "Cancel" but o.k..
