Custom Fields in Info panel

Post by duarte.framos »

Short Version :

Is it possible to add custom EXIF/IPTC fields to isplay in the XNViewMP info panel under View > Show Information ?
If so how can I do it and how do I know the name of the fields in question?

Long Version :
I have lots of images rendered in Blender and a few versions back Blender added the option to save metadata pertaining to settings and render statistics into the image file metadata which is extremely convenient.

So is there a way to show this custom information directly in the View > Show Information panel?
IF so, how can I know what markup to add, and the name of said field?

I have been successful in adding it for JPEG files under Tools > Settings > View > Info > Information Displayed which happen to use a series of custom Comment fields for it using

Code: Select all

{File Index} | {Filename With Ext} | {Format}
{Width} x {Height} | {Size}
Taken: {EXIF:Date Taken [d b Y]} at {EXIF:Date Taken [H:M:S]}
With a {EXIF:Make} {EXIF:Model}
{Comment}
See attached screenshot for the JPG file properties and result. They do show all garbled up though, all in a single line stuck together.
For PNG files I have not been successful in determining the correct markup (if any) to display those fields like 'Render Time' or 'File' .
See attached file to see the name of the fields.

So to sum it up
  • How can I display those custom fields in te info panel? and if so how to determine the correct markup for a any random field?
  • Is it possible to show each JPEG comment on separated or in a different line?

Ah what a shame, that would have been great! Anyway, thanks for the answer, at least I won't spend any more time trying to accomplish it in vain. :)

Maybe in some future version perhaps... Thanks for the quick reply

Hum, that could work but I am not totally sure what you mean. Could you point me in the right direction?

Do you have any tutorial on how to accomplish that, or perhaps a link to some documentation about that feature?
Is that under browse mode or view mode? I don't really know where to start

Ah sorry didn't quite get what you meant.
Yes a custom section would be fine, though a quick way to also access this information while in view mode would be most convenient.

Thanks for adding it to the to-do list :D

If I understood this, I'm using Fastphototagger freeware for this purpose, I can display any exif, iptc,xmp, mwg fields.
Field names are shown ("show all metdata"), and can be easily added in main window.
