When in viewer mode, I'd like to add text to images.
Right now I need to use another tool for it.
Is there an easy way to do this from XnViewMP when in viewer mode?
Thanks!

A Draw tool was added to XnView MP in 0.85: Image > Draw... or use the icon added to the Toolbar...mrwul wrote:When in viewer mode, I'd like to add text to images.

Re: How to add text, arrows, etc.
Ah, thanks...!
I wasn't aware of it. Very nice indeed.
Hopefully this will be developed further:
- when resizing use the same button (+) (-) as with the viewer - i.e. smaller steps (steps are too big now)
- allow to add space (drag borders) so text can be added there, i.e. outside the image (see my example),
but also to simply add a (white/black) border to an image.
Anyway, thanks again.

You can add a border now using Image > Canvas resize... with Background color set to the required border colour...mrwul wrote:Hopefully this will be developed further:

It might be best to make that request as a separate post under the MP - Suggestions heading.mrwul wrote:

Re: How to add text, arrows, etc.
Thanks again.
I found that tool/option.
I am not sure, but I think one can not see the results beforehand , i.e. one has to do canvas resize, click 'OK' and then only see the results.
In SnagItEditor one simply drags the border to the required size.
Think it is not possible to add another external editor to XnViewMP (F4 is associated with Paint)

Re: How to add text, arrows, etc.
btw it is possible to assign an external editor
change in registry
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\shell\edit\command
then modify and change: "%systemroot%\system32\mspaint.exe" "%1"
into, let's say : "D:\Snagit 11\SnagitEditor.exe" "%1"
SnagItEditor will then be opened, changes can be made, but as far as I can see
these changes will not show up in XnView MP until
a) SnagItEditor(*) is closed and
b) XnViewMP is closed and relaunched (double clicking the changed image file)
(*) or use any other editor.

Re: How to add text, arrows, etc.
What you also could do is add external programs:mrwul wrote:btw it is possible to assign an external editor ..
1. In XnView browser, right click on an image file (e.g. a JPEG image) to open the context menu.
2. In context menu, select "Open with > Configure programs..."
3. In "Configure programs" dialog select "Add.."
4. In the file dialog select the executable (*.exe) of your external program that you want to add and the confirm dialog.
5. Confirm the "Configure programs" dialog with "OK" button.
From then on, there will be a new entry in the context menu "Open with > Corel PhotoPaint" for example. Short cut for the first added external program is "Alt + 1".
Re: How to add text, arrows, etc.
MANY thanks indeed!
Frankly, I wouldn't have found this myself, expecting this kind of stuff to be in the settings or menu or wherever,
but not directly under the context menu.
Would be something like this then, under Alt-1

One day the built in editor may have similar options.
Again, thanks!
