noob auto correct question

Post by BabaG »

i've just been experimenting with xnview and have gotten into a
corner i can't seem to find a way out of.

i've been viewing .cr2 files from a new canon 5d. when i do so i'm
finding that xnview is auto-compensating my exposure. how do i
stop it from doing this?

in other words, suppose i take shot 'a' and decide i want it a bit
darker. i then dim my lighting a bit and leave everything on the
camera the same (it's set to be fully manual). when i open the
new 'darker' image in xnview it's just as bright as the previous.
this continues to be the case as i continue dimming the lights and
shooting repeatedly. with each successively 'darker' shot xnview
compensates, giving me a pristine image just as bright as my first.

when i view the images in canon's digital photo pro i see each
successive image displayed with each getting darker as i shot
and dimmed the lights so i know the raw files are correct. how do
i keep xnview from auto compensating my exposures?

thanks,
BabaG

And if you change settings, do you have a better view?
Pierre.
