ThunderBird Email instead of Outlook ?

Post by PasadenaDave »

I'd really like to be able to use Thunderbird rather than Outlook! But, don't see any way to do this. Suggestion Box?

Thx!! A GREAT program!

Change default…

:) Hello ! Welcome on board !

• I assume that you mean to send pics from XnView ?

- Currently, XnView calls the default mailer of the system, so you have to state Thunderbird like this.
- Generally, that is planned in the options of the mailers. For instance, here I use Eudora, and it's my default mailer…
• You are right to prefer Thunderbird in the case, because some versions of Outlook
caused issues with XnView, it's a known problem.

 Kind regards,
Claude

Thunderbird for XnView

Post by PasadenaDave »

Thanks, Claude.. Seems like I went thru this a year or so ago, and had forgotten!

So, Open Internet Explorer, Go to Tools, Internet Options, Programs, and make the default email program Thunderbird. (Besides, Nothing but hassles with Outlook!)

Thank you, and best wishes for a great week!!

I thought it was said in this forum earlier that this will not work? And it does not work for me. TB IS my standard mailer, but the function in XnView calls Windows Messaging which then stops with an error to find a MAPI configuration file.

Maybe not so strange. I have Windows Messenger disabled or deinstalled. If XnView uses that (Windows Messaging = Messenger?)....

Not in IE

:) Hi !

• I meant that you have to state the default mailer in Thunderbird itself, it might have a setting for that…

Well, I have exactly the same problem. I configured TB as a default mail client from "Tools/Options/General", but it does not work. If I right-click from explorer window and choose "Send to/Mail recipient" it works OK.
