A workaround is to set maximum tabs to 1, and then disable tab bar.

1) i turned off closing last tab exits XnView
2) closed Browser so that only <Empty> tab left, then closed XnVew, than opened xnvew.exe - it opens only Browser
but i have to repeat №2 after each closure :/

refrain, how to disable tab bar and how it will help?

You have perhaps disabled option>General - Confirm session

I'm getting the extra tab too, under Linux 64-bit. I close it and it comes back every time I restart.

I tried my Windows ini file so I don't have to set all my preferences again, but it didn’t work.

I've only spent a few minutes with MP. Installation was a breeze. I right-clicked XnViewMP-linux-x64.deb and selected “Open with gdebi package installer” and voila, it worked! This is very important for non-technial users, which is 99%. Awesome! Thanks Pierre, I know how much work this is for you.

XnView MP supports session save and restore, that means that when exiting XnView MP and restarting the next time, XnView MP will open the browser plus all images that had been opened when exiting the last time.

To deactivate XnView MP's session save and restore, please follow these steps:
1. Start XnView MP
2. Check the checkbox "Confirm 'Session' saving on program exit" in menu "Tools > Settings" | Category "General".
3. Exit XnView MP. When exiting a message box will appear. Here, check "Do not show this message again". Please note that this checkbox has two functions: 1.) Do not show message again. 2.) Remember this answer and use next time. So label of the checkbox should be "Remember this answer and do not ask again.".
4. Confirm the message box with "No".
From now on XnView MP will no longer save and restore your last session.
