Deleting files in fullscreen mode deleted all folders!
I got a serious problem. While viewing pictures in fullscreen mode, I deleted unwanted pictures by pressing "Del". In the background, XnView deleted not only the pictures, but all pictures in the pictures folders. It seems that the focus of the cursor changed in the background while I was viewing the pictures, perhaps because I tried to switch between the pictures by pressing the arrow keys (what doesn't work but seems to do something in the background). I hopefully can restore them, 7.000 pictures are lost

Perhaps you have them in the Recycle Bin??hic wrote:I got a serious problem. While viewing pictures in fullscreen mode, I deleted unwanted pictures by pressing "Del". If not...
STEP 1: DO NOT write ANYTHING on that DRIVE!! If it is the system drive is advised to boot from a live CD.
Step 2: Get a good recovering program. For example Piriform's Recuva. It is free.
Step 3: Be careful to not install the program on that drive.
Step 4: When you recover the files put the destination path on ANOTHER drive!!!
Step 5: When the recovering process is done, try again to delete.
...well, I'm joking but not too much. Try on a test bed (copies etc.) the same steps to find the cause of the problem.

Well, thank you, of course I did all the steps already . What I won't definitely try is to delete again when in fullscreen mode...

Hello, on which OS and xnviewMP version ?hic wrote:Well, thank you, of course I did all the steps already . What I won't definitely try is to delete again when in fullscreen mode...
...And, into Settigs\General\File Operations (do you have all ticked ?)
Confirm file delete
Use Recycle Bin
Automatically select new files
Add 'Copy of‘ for duplicata files
Keep original date/time for saving
Confirm to save changes to file
... I can't reproduce this bug but I get an other: (here into: XnViewMP 0.64 Linux X64 - Ubuntu 12.04 LTS - X64)
1-) in fullscreen
2-) Ctrl+A (or select area - keys)
3-)Suppr (key)
4-) mouse scroll up or down to change to next pic ... then impossible into prompt menue: "save changed file" to validate the choose "cancel" or "No" ... I had to use the "Echap" ("esc") key ... so an other bug ...

With F11? Could you try to reproduce (with a copy)?hic wrote:I got from browser to complete full screen mode.

Re: Deleting files in fullscreen mode deleted all folders!
Yes, I got from broser to full screen with F11. Then I tried to use the arrow keys to switch between the pictures. As I realised that it doesn't work (didn't see the option in the preferences), I proceeded by clicking with the mouse on the arrow symbols. I deleted some of the pictures, and suddenly all folders inside my pictures folder were gone, although I only worked inside one folder (I have a structure of "one year, one folder").
And no, I will not try to reproduce it . It took me hours to get all the images back to disk.

So let me rephrase: You only worked in folder 2013 (let's say) and you deleted the entire folder?hic wrote:Yes, I got from broser to full screen with F11. To Pierre: Perhaps the arrows inadvertently fall on '..' folder?
Come on... Please... We love you... you're so kind... pretty please...

Ok, we're joking. But we love you. I'm very sorry for what happened. Also we truly value your input. Keep on going.

Re: Deleting files in fullscreen mode deleted all folders!
I have a folder structure like this:m.Th. wrote: So let me rephrase: You only worked in folder 2013 (let's say) and you deleted the entire folder?

Pictures
->2006
->2007
.
.
.
->2013
->2014
I worked in "2014". And every folder below "Pictures" was deleted.
I guess that the arrows pointed accidentally to the other folders in the background. Don't know. I now only mark the pictures in fullscrenn, get back to browser and delete them there.
Good to be loved anyway;-).

Pierre.

Take care Pierre. He speaks about FullScreen mode where he clicked on "<-" and "->". It is the same code (model)?xnview wrote:'..' can't be selected in view mode

Re: Deleting files in fullscreen mode deleted all folders!
I'm not 100% sure but I think it happened to me two days ago that XnView 0.84 displayed an "empty" image which turned out to be the parent folder "..". Unfortunately I couldn't reproduce the problem. (When testing one should always have a screen recorder running).m.Th. wrote:Take care Pierre. He speaks about FullScreen mode where he clicked on "<-" and "->".
