Right, not only for beta testing but a permanent shortcut. Questions are always posed for XnView, not only during beta testing. ;.-)

Exaclty.

Ctrl + Shift + <key> or Ctrl + Alt + <key> are good combinations and I think there are still many letters free (e. g. Ctrl+Alt+L). I'm sure Dreamer knows a good shortcut, right Dreamer?

Personally---

• Hi !

- Personally, I'ld be rather in favour of Ctrl+Alt+L, because it can be done as AltGr+L with the most European keyboards and these two keys are so close one another…
Mr. Dreamer-Short Cuts, please ? Image

Ctrl+Alt+L is used by new "automatic levels". The letter "L" seems full. Dreamer might need to sort list by letter to keep track of them all. :)

E for English ?

Post by Clo »

:D Hello B. !

- I tested Ctrl+Alt+E (here : AltGr+E, it's the same) and I get no action either in View or in the browser, so I conclude it's free…

 Kind regards,

You can't live without me?

Not easy task, Ctrl+Alt+L is already requested for Automatic level, so L is full.

I suggest Ctrl+F12, since we need to open Options dialog when we change language (with F12), so it would be handy IMO and still quick also when it would not work when Options dialog is opened, just press Ctrl+F12 and F12.

And as secondary shortcut maybe Ctrl+Alt+N - Next language.

It's not so difficult if you have a good browser.

Just open sites below, press Ctrl+F, type, e.g. +L and press Highlight button. You can find this feature in Avant Browser and Orca Browser (just RC, Gecko engine).

Indeed. You are the one and only person who really knows about the shortcuts in detail. :-)

We agree that we need a feature for toggling language (native <-> English). But I don't think that we need a "Next language" feature. "Next language" would be surely more flexible, but people would have to (re)move unwanted languages, which is no good I think.

Native <-> English would be enough for most users, but some users speak more languages, e.g. all people from Czech rep. speak/understand Slovak language (and vice versa) and when Czech translation would not be available/updated, they could use Slovak, but just in some cases, so they'd need to switch between Czech and Slovak (and English maybe). Also for translator who speak 3 or 4 languages would be usefull to switch between all these languages IMO.

So I think there could be an option (affecting both shortcuts) to switch between - Native <-> English and between all languages.

Or even better - add checkboxes to all languages, to native and English by default, e.g.:

[x] English
[ ] Czech
[x] Slovak
[ ] German
[ ] French
...

Just don't know if it would be easy to implement, but it's similar than associations, so maybe... Pierre?

Dreamer, we are speaking for a feature for translators and people doing support - probably 0.0001 % of all users. Please let us make this feature as simple as possible - without golden bail and silver bow.

OK, then just shortcuts...

Native <-> English - Ctrl+F12 (and Ctrl+Alt+N)

Next language - Alt+F12 (or Ctrl+Alt+F12)

OK, hope it's easy to implement, 25 replies and still no reply from Pierre...

I think Alt+F12 would be better for Next language.

In XnView 1.91.6 we have Ctrl+F12 to switch to English language, but switching back to the native (or last used) language using Ctrl+F12 does not work for me. Is this a bug or a feature?

Confirmed, a bug IMHO. I tried the other shortcut - Alt+F12 and I have this bug since then. :( Sorry, a bit OT, but there is no reply in that topic.
