0.20 win32: Document files: Page scrolling broken

Post by Gerhard Mesenich »

Page scolling is broken (pdf-files and others)

next page - works
previous page - no reaction, greyed out

Also the document is thrown out of the preview after the last page, without asking.
It should stay there, until expicitly closed or a new file is chosen.

related:

In xnview for windows (1.96.5) page scrolling also does not work properly with the keyboard.

Menue: View - Page - next : works OK
Keyboard: shift+PageDown - works OK in viewer only,

but in the browser preview window it just highlights some files and moves the selection

same behavior for shift+PageUp

Summary and suggestions:

All xnview versions are not only useful as picture viewers, but also make very useful general file viewers (already better than anything else I know, I am often using it for the management of huge technical pdf libraries). The only drawback are the broken scrolling functions.

Keyboard:

The standard shortcut for document page scrolling should simply be PageUp/PageDown, which in my opinion is the normally expected behaviour.

Mouse Wheel:

The Mouse Wheel should also do the page scrolling, whenever any document (pdf, OpenOffice odt, etc.) has focus. With this small enhancement xnview would be an almost perfect general file browser. Shift+Mousewheel for instance could be used for zooming.

Rapid view switch:

In MP there should also be 2 separate icons in the Toolbar for Thumbnail_View and List_View for rapid single click view change. The view can then comfortably be switched only when needed, because pdf thumbnail generation is usually slow and therefore needs to be changed quite often.

Thanks and Regards from Germany,

You means in browser shift+PageDown/PageUp doesn't change current page viewed?
But PageUp/PageDown are used in thumbnail list

Page scrolling does not work with any key in the preview window (Browse mode).
Only 'next page' works with the toolbar icon, 'previous page' does not work at all even with the icon.

Page scrolling works in the view mode with keys as expected and also with the toolbar icons.

Nothing works with the mousewheel, even if if the mouse wheel is set to scroll up/down.

--------

I have just installed under Ubuntu/Linux which shows exactly the same behaviour.
(BTW: XnViewMP is by far the best looking browser under Ubuntu too, all sizes and the whole appearance is just right!)

shift+PageDown/PageUp was set by me in the shortcut options in an attempt to repair.
This is also the default setting in xnview 1.96.

Remapping the keys doesn't do anything for the problem.

Merci et excuse ma réponse tardive.

Reproduced in 0.84:

By default, key assignments for page navigation are missing: :bug:

Shift + Home: First Page
Shift + PgUp: Previous Page
Shift + PgDown: Next Page
Shift + End: Last Page

When assigning these shortcuts in the Settings | Interface | Shortcuts, "First Page" and "Last Page" will still not work. :bug:

O.k., thank you, I can also reproduce the problem. Issue 1141 is fixed in next version.

Page navigation works fine in 0.85 test version. Shortcuts have been added. Thank you, Pierre! :)
