RC3: Lite Fullscreen Mode

Post by Dreamer »

Edit: If you don't want to read this long thread, read just...
My final "blue" suggestions:

I suggest one submenu under Options > General > "Switching between modes" with these options:

Use LMB double click to switch between:
- Viewer and Fullscreen Standard / Browser and Fullscreen Lite
- Viewer and Browser
- Browser, Viewer and Fullscreen Standard

Use MMB click to switch between:
- Viewer and Browser
- Viewer and Fullscreen Standard / Browser and Fullscreen Lite
- Browser, Viewer and Fullscreen Standard

Use Enter to switch between:
- Viewer and Browser
- Viewer and Fullscreen Standard / Browser and Fullscreen Lite
- Browser, Viewer and Fullscreen Standard

(maybe also) Use F11 and "F" to switch between:
- Viewer and Fullscreen Standard / Browser and Fullscreen Lite
- Viewer and Browser
- Browser, Viewer and Fullscreen Standard

- - - - - - - - - -

1. When I double click on a thumbnail, I get viewer, but when I double click on preview, I get "Lite" fullscreen mode (Dbl click or enter to view in fullscreen is disabled).

2. When I double click on image in viewer I get standard fullscreen mode.

I think it's confusing...

Also I miss Zoom lock, Slideshow, Rename, Delete, Home/End key, "/", "*" and more in "Lite" fullscreen mode and I must leave this mode, go to viewer and press F11 if I want a standard fullscreen mode.

But definetely I miss MMB and F11 to leave lite fullscreen.

I'd prefer "Use special lite fullscreen mode only at xnview start" or at least such option.

Maybe also an option "Never use special lite fullscreen mode"

If you have ideas to lite fullscreen mode, post here...

Really, when you are in browser mode, you have the fullscreen of preview. When you are in view mode, you have the fullscreen of the current view.
Also I miss Zoom lock, Slideshow, Rename, Delete, Home/End key, "/", "*" and more in "Lite" fullscreen mode and I must leave this mode, go to viewer and press F11 if I want a standard fullscreen mode.
I'll add it
But definetely I miss MMB and F11 to leave lite fullscreen.
I can add Edit in popup menu of the lite mode...
I'd prefer "Use special lite fullscreen mode only at xnview start" or at least such option.
Maybe also an option "Never use special lite fullscreen mode"
Not sure that these options are good...

I'd rather have the same option for thumbnail and preview in the browser. Sometimes I use a double click on thumbnail, sometimes on preview and I get different action...

Or at least add also option:
[x] - Double click on preview to view in (lite) fullscreen

I think it would be confusing, there are 4 "modes" already (standard fullscreen, lite fullscreen, viewer and browser)...

So if you'll add those options (above), it would be good.

It would be best if you could add also this options (in the browser):
- go to lite fullscreen with F11 (and Ctrl+F) and MMB (MMB click on preview and on thumbnail)
- go back to browser (from lite fullscreen) with F11 (and Ctrl+F) and MMB

So I could go to viewer (and back) with a double click and Enter and to (lite) fullscreen (and back) with MMB click and F11.

Why? You said:
xnview wrote:I've made this mode because when using old mode, the picture is loaded in a view before to display it in fullscreen. Here it's the preview from browser that is put in fullscreen.
So why this lite fullscreen is not also at xnview start, it make better sense for me, users often need just click to image in explorer (or file manager), see that image and exit xnview immediately (therefore I want also Exit in the bottom of the context menu so much).

Edit: I miss also "Informations text" in lite fullscreen mode.

Great!

Also MMB and F11 for switch between browser and lite fullscreen? (reason below, more above)
So I could go to viewer (and back) with a double click and Enter and to (lite) fullscreen (and back) with MMB click and F11.

Also this is important for me:

With options above it would be possible to go to viewer and fullscreen from browser, but the same action for thumbnail and preview is needed I think.

Or/And another option:
- switch between Browser and Viewer with MMB

- switch between Viewer and fullscreen with LMB double click
- switch between Browser and fullscreen (lite) with LMB double click

Reason - LMB double click for switch to fullscreen (and back) is a standard.

I'll try to explain:

Code: Select all

+---------------------+ +---------------------+
| Fullscreen standard | | Fullscreen lite |
+---------------------+ +---------------------+
           | |
 LMB double-click, F11 LMB double-click, F11
           | |
+---------------------+ +---------------------+
| Viewer |--MMB, Enter--| Browser |

It's like that you want to use browser/viewer?

I want the "system".
I want the same way to enter/leave fullscreen and lite fullscreen mode.

Double click and F11 are the standard "keys" to enter/leave fullscreen, so it would be nice to have it also in xnview (by default or as option).

I want also the same way - if I double click on thumbnail and preview (in browser).

Any other ideas? I think it's confusing now.

I'm agree with dreamer I think is a little confusing how it is now the pathway to lite or full screen view. Personally I would like to double-click always LMB to go to/from the preview to the lite, and to/from thumb to viewer to fullscreen. Maybe somebody else prefer the CMB, but I don't think is very time consuming to put this as an option.

What do you think?

If "Dbl Click or enter to view in fullscreen" option is disabled, then: at start you leave fullscreen (lite) with a double click or Enter, but you can't go back to fullscreen with a double click or Enter, you must press F11 or go to Viewer and click to MMB.

If "Dbl Click or enter to view in fullscreen" option is enabled, there is no way to go to Viewer except small toolbar button, no key, shortcut, mouse...

Just few reasons for this way (#1):

Code: Select all

+---------------------+ +---------------------+
| Fullscreen standard | | Fullscreen lite |
+---------------------+ +---------------------+
           | |
 LMB double-click, F11 LMB double-click, F11
           | |
+---------------------+ +---------------------+
| Viewer |--MMB, Enter--| Browser |
+---------------------+ +---------------------+
Or - what about this?

Toggle between (#2):

Code: Select all

  +----------+ +--------+ +---------------------+
+-| Browser  |-->--| Viewer |-->--| Fullscreen-standard |-+
| +----------+ +--------+ +---------------------+ |
| |
+------------------------------<--------------------------+
with a doulbe click and Enter.

Anyway, I think it could be confusing, so idea above (#1) is better...

I don't understand why it's confusing. Many users want quickly to see their pictures in fullscreen. If you use the fullscreen of view mode, you must load the picture before.

You have the "open" entry in popup menu.
So i change ENTER to open picture and no more fullscreen.

xnview wrote:You have the "open" entry in popup menu.
Yes, but it didn't work in RC1.
xnview wrote:So i change ENTER to open picture and no more fullscreen.
It works already...

What I want is the same way to switch between:

- Fullscreen and Viewer - Dbl-click, F11
- Viewer and Fullscreen - Dbl-click, F11

- Fullscreen lite and Browser - Dbl-click, F11
- Browser and Fullscreen lite - Dbl-click, F11

- Browser and Viewer - MMB and Enter
- Viewer and Browser - MMB and Enter

Currently, e.g. I can switch from Viewer to Browser with dbl-click or Enter, but I can't switch back to Viewer with those "keys". Or I can switch between Browser and Fullsreen lite with dbl-click or Enter, but I can't switch between Viewer and Fullscreen standard with dbl-click or Enter...

Also in many cases MMB and F11 are redundant, they do the same action as dbl-click and Enter.

As alternative option (to that above) could be current, or this:

Toggle between these modes with a doulbe click and Enter:

Browser --> Viewer --> Fullscreen-standard --> Browser ...
or
Browser --> Viewer --> Fullscreen-lite --> Browser ...

Those options would be great, easy to understand, intuitive, not confusing (as now, see other posts...) - perfect :) .

No if you have "dlb click to view in fullscreen".
So the option must be "dbl click to view in fullscreen" or "dbl click or enter to view in fullscreen"????
