Exclude folders from file list

Post by nevyoung2 »

Hi - I have used Classic for many years, and now find that MP might suit me better. A problem is that I cannot exclude folders from the file list. It was easy to exclude folders in Classic, but I cannot find the setting to do so in MP. Custom file list is no good, because if I want to display only videos or only images, then folders will display no matter I do. If I use custom then I get images and folders. Changing the custom file list settings is a very awkward way to swop between images and videos. The folders are clearly visible in the Folders pane and so do not need to be repeated in the file list. For a folder with many subfolders, I have to scroll down to where I see the images or the videos. Where is the folder setting in MP? What am I not understanding? BTW - I have searched aplenty in the forum and elsewhere. Thanks

Thanks - If I customise to see Videos only, then videos is all I see - no folders. If I customise to see images, images is all that is all I see. But if I select Images from the Filter options, I see Images together with Folders. If I select Videos from the Filter options, I see Videos together with Folders. The quick switch in Filter options between Images and Videos always includes Folders. To change custom settings every time I want to swop between Images and Videos is not a viable option. As I have said, this preference was easy to set in Classic. Perhaps I am missing something, but I can't get it right in MP.

Ok, i think that i understand your request. In Classic, 'Images' or 'Videos' filter use Options>File list, and in MP folders are always included, right?

That looks like great news indeed. Thank you!
I look forward to seeing 0.99.5 available soon. (0.99.4 currently the latest)

Hi Pierre - I have found another bug unfortunately but have a workaround.

I prefer to run programs without a Windows install, so I was running MP from the extracted zip. I was not able to delete an image using the Del key without the program crashing. I did send a bug report XnView MP Crash Report - [7738 - 0.99.5] which responded by saying I should install the latest version which I certainly do have.

I tried to run as admin without success. I was however able to delete an image using the image mouse dropdown menu . It is the Del key that causes the crash.

So I have now installed the Win64 exe and it does not have this problem.

So this might be an interesting issue to investigate and to be aware of. I am OK with using the Win install.
