Best way to use IPTC for detailed photo metadata?

Hi, I want to start using embedded metadata to keep track of photo details, such as the names of people and pets in the photos, locations, etc. (too much information for the Description or Comment fields). I guess IPTC is the place for this. I could add custom IPTC keywords for people's names, or ...

Re: Tagging pictures Picture Window or Fullscreen View

Control-T in fullscreen does it. To see the tagging status in fullscreen, hit I to show information.

Re: Copy to, how to choose again between CHECKED and SELECTE

Hi, I'm having the same issue here. I see some possibly relevant entries in my xnview.ini :

[Start]
TagShowFlags=0
SelectedShowAgain=0
ShowAgain=268156895
TagShowAgain=268435455

Which of these should I modify in order to get back the prompt asking me if I want to operate on tagged or selected ...

Re: 1.97.7 crash while building thumbnails

I also get crash after I updated to 1.97.7 while xnview is displaying thumbnails.
It does not crash in all folders. But if I find a folder that crashes it, then it always crash while viewing that folder.

This is what I thought too, at first. But after a while I realized that the crash occured ...

Re: 1.97.7 crash while building thumbnails

A-ha! It's not the thumbnails. It's the tooltips! If I go into browser mode, and avoid hovering the mouse over any thumbnails, the crash does not occur. Also, if I turn off tooltips, the crash does not occur, even with mouse hovering.

So then I re-enabled tooltips, and reset the tooltips to the ...

Re: 1.97.7 crash while building thumbnails

And you have always crash on same folder??
Do you have video?

I have found one folder which crashes every time in browser mode. I can, however, run Xnview on one photo in the dir from windows explorer, and then advance through viewing all photos in that dir without problems. This directory ...

Re: Slideshow timing on different PCs (also music looping is

Hi, I was the original poster of the issue. Just to follow up... the transitions did not seem to be the cause. I never figured out exactly what was causing this, but my best guess is that it seemed to be related to the speed of hard-disk access on which the slide show was playing. On some systems ...

1.97.7 crash while building thumbnails

Hi, I upgraded to 1.97.7 yesterday, and ever since, it often crashes while showing thumbnails in browser mode. Sometimes a certain directory will cause the crash, and sometimes it won't. Sometimes, I have to click on 3 or 4 different directories before Xnview will crash.

I've cleared the thumbnail ...

Re: Slideshow timing on different PCs (also music looping is

Yes, I'm using Cross-fading. Do you think her slow laptop graphics card might be rendering the fades slower than my gaming PC, thus making all the pictures take longer to display on her machine? I'll try a version with no transitions to see if that makes a difference.

FWIW, I made a slideshow of ...

Slideshow timing on different PCs (also music looping issue)

Hi, I just made a slideshow .EXE with XnView 1.97.5 . I tweaked the transition timing carefully (1.57 sec) to make sure the pictures ended when the MP3 song ended. After getting it perfect on my PC, I copied the .EXE to my wife's laptop, and on that machine, the music ended before the pictures, and ...
