I have set Gmail up inside Firefox as a bookmark but cannot find preferences anywhere in Gmail. This works as an email service quite well but have not made it my prime email service as yet

thanks for that drahken but I used BTYahoo which is different from Yahoo. Thunderbird carries files across from Yahoo/IE not BTYahoo/IE ????? and consequently only items saved in the Yahoo pages are carried across. Yes I know it seems mad but BTYahoo has a mind of its own. XnTriq thanks for that but I found a laborious way of transferring my bookmarks by copy- save my bookmarks pages to FF ( I have 6 of them ? ) opening each one in Firefox, saving them to FF bookmarks and - success. It has allowed me to reorganise the BMs as well :) now to learn about FF Regards JohnL...

thanks guys, I have already downloaded and am using Firefox :) Have to find my way around which is causing some headaches but hopefully I will get there :D Whats the best email app' though? oops I think its off to the Firefox forums 'cus I have even more questions ha ha :D thanks again everyone JohnL

following great support from the members here I would like to know what are the recomendations for good browsers ie firefox etc and why because information of advantages are few and far between?
