Both x and y values are shown as "72". If I then open the image in photoshop 8 and do: "Image -> Pixel aspect ratio-> Square", save the file, and reopen in xnview, the DPI values are still shown as "72".

Pierre, is there an "pixel aspect ratio" option in resize? I couldn't find one.

The original steps I took were:
1) Start with large b/w tif (e.g., 2600x3900, scanned at 300dpi)
2) Resize with XnView (set height to 1200, 'Keep Ratio' checked, Lanczos resample method selected.)
3) Save result as gif ...

I recently resized and converted a large batch of tif files to gif format. In doing this, I seem to have mangled the "pixel aspect ratio." Thanks, guys for the fast replies. To clarify what I'm asking, here's what I currently doing:

First: Save a custom selection size, set to the size I want all my images cropped.

Then, for each image:
1) Open image
2) Right click in image, and elect "Set Selection size -> custom"
3) Use control-drag ...

Help with custom selection size invocation

I've got a large (really large) number of images that must all be cropped to the same size. I know how to create a custom selection size and invoke it via the context menu and the 'c' key, but am looking for a quicker way. A hotkey would do the trick, but I don't believe there is one for this ...
