Checked compatibility and it helped, after new compatibility settings were applied, the issue was gone.

Yes it does and colors are set like some 256. Any tips to help resolve this?
like i said before, by just opening xnview with shortcut on desktop (after fresh installation) resolution and colors are changed, and when xnview is closed all is back normal again.

w7 32 + XnView v1.97.8 and nVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS
On fresh installed PC w7 32bit, XnView v1.97.8 Standard version(also tried older versions) on open changes resolution and color setting, when xnview is closed all settings all back normal (1680x1050).
This issue doesnt occur with XnViewMP.
Also tried reaname xnview.ini, and opening xnview was again ...
