Something new: If i select one image, writing fails, if i select more than one, XMP ist written.

... tried it again with a freshly installed version, but no xmp data was shown/written. I think the reason for the behaviour is definately the rewriting of the xmp-data by gimp, but XnView should show an error message if it's not able to write the XMP or repair/rewrite it.

I just updated my old XnView-version with the new one. I'll remove it completely and reinstall.

Still problems with 2.22:
Images, where Gimp has rewritten the XMP-Data, show no XMP. If I enter an IPTC-Description, it is properly saved as IPTC, but XMP is not written and there is no error message about that.

Pierre, will the next version of XnView show an error message if the XMP-Toolkit is not able to write metadata? Here is one example image where XnView can't write XMP-Data because of the metadata error of Gimp that i described:
