The point of my suggestion, the right-click menu has only ever said "copy", which to me always means "copy object". I think I'm not alone there.
I always wanted "copy path" but (based on wording) it seemed XnView didn't have it. Yet it was there all along! I just didn't have a way to know it except ...

I opened an image from the browser view into its own tab. I clicked on "crop" button, pressed CTRL-A to select entire image, then moved the borders and clicked crop to edit the image. I did not save the edited image.
I pressed CTRL-A again to select entire image, then CTRL-C to copy ...

Machine is 12th gen I7 with 2T SSD and 32G ram so I think all should be good on the speed front...
I actually am thinking of wiping/redoing this win11 pro installation. I've already done a refresh and that helped solve some things, but maybe a full reinstall and set everything up from scratch ...

Neither, just click on the browser tab to switch to it. Sometimes I close the single image tab(s) first.

Just tried it out and seems to be fixed. Thank you so much.
EDIT: I still had Video show-in-preview unchecked (workaround mentioned earlier in this thread). I marked it again. Videos are not in the browser thumbnail view, but are still being shown while scrolling through individual images. So, not ...
