Re: nconvert 8bit per component

Is this problem dealt with? I have the exact same problem.

Can you upload the TIFF causing problems?

The picture will be converted to RGB with 8bits per component

Re: WebP support

http://entropymine.com/imageworsener I've now found Image Worsener that can decode WEBP's natively without problems and without plugins ... so I do no longer need WEBP support in NC/XN. Additionally, Image Worsener provides better zooming (16 bpps and without the infamous Gamma-BUG) and palettizing ...

Re: WebP support (2 issues)

appears to be seriously broken

Well, XN 1.98 + WEBP.DLL 201'728 is happy with it. And I have one more file with same problem. Later WEBP library versions do no longer accept early WEBP's.

NConvert 6.88 (XnView 2.36) 2016-May-01

NConvert 6.88 is out (2016-Apr-29 ... 2016-May-01). Win32 and DOS32LE packages are available and consistent. :-)

Minimal test done, seems to work.

PNG optimization

Some test results:

- binary of "Efficient-Compression-Tool" from "fast-image-optimizer.zip" does something (works on XP and DOS) ... but is absurdly bloated (1.2 MiO) and compression effect is weak even with "-s2"

WebP support (2 issues)

- WeBP support could be native rather than depend from a DLL

- attached WebP file can't be decoded anymore, while 2 other WebP files I have still do work, and IIRC I've seen this file displayed in XN some time ago (XN version cca 2.0xx (??) + plugin version ?? used to work)

This text looks very interesting ... just the date is a bit silly. I downloaded all the binaries (and source where discoverable) and will test them occasionally.

How many hashes do you need? Anyway. I'm voting for CRC32, MD5 and SHA256.

Re: copy png to png expands palette

Bug confirmed for 8- as well as 4-bit PNGs

I would NOT consider this as a BUG ... NC is neither a hard-core PNG optimizer nor a generic file copy tool, so to me it seems to work well, despite somewhat unfortunate result is this special case. Try OPTIPNG or PNGOUT or TRUEPNG or similar. http ...

AllFormats=1 ?

(I don't view PDF's in XN myself, I use MUPDF ...)

Low verbosity about plugin trouble in both XN and NC is a known problem having been there for centuries :-\
