Re: Problem with directory-mapped removable drives
ok, but i can't reproduce. But what is "\Device\Harddisk2\DR2"? I haven't the faintest idea, I have not tried to set up any such; the only time I ever see that path is via your error message. It is something generic that was also seen by the OP. Where would your program pick up that variable from t...

Re: Problem with directory-mapped removable drives
which option do you have in options>General>Mode when starting...? Not sure what you mean by "Mode when starting", but the lower half of the General tab has: "Launch Browser at Startup" ticked with Startup Directory=Last Used and "Maximise XNview at Startup" ticked, and the "Mode when starting with...

Re: Problem with directory-mapped removable drives
Sadly, the issue remains in v7.16 ... "\Device\Harddisk2\DR2" is the shared folder?? you have only this error when double clicking on windows explorer to open XnView, right? As described above, double clicking on a picture file associated with XnView in Win Explorer is what STARTS the error going (...

Re: Problem with directory-mapped removable drives
and are you able to go to this folder by xnview's browser? Yes, when I can eventually clean out all the multiple error banners. The directory then looks identical to the one that appears in Windows Explorer Even when in, the banners often continue to be pushed up afterwards. The behaviour does chan...

Re: Problem with directory-mapped removable drives
and what's happened? Slow startup? I don't know what wasn't clear; As I said, XnView "interminably throws this same error as OP." I go into Windows Explorer, double click on the jpg showing in the window, XNview tries to start up and I get dozens of the OP messages: 'There is no disk in the drive. ...

Re: Problem with directory-mapped removable drives
For info, the files ARE there, and appear in Windows Explorer, and I usually invoke XnView by navigating to the folder in Explorer and double-clicking on the relevant file...
That is when the dozens of messages come up - even after the relevant file opens in XnView.

Re: Problem with directory-mapped removable drives
Been using XNView for years; been forced from my old Vista PC to a Win7 laptop, both running V2.43 Nearly all my data (especially photos) on a NAS drive with a particular area mapped to my P: drive. Vista worked fine, and had made XnView as default jpg opening app. Win7 on the laptop interminably th...

Re: Scanner is working, but no longer in "Select Twain Sourc
I had dreaded doing anything more when the "Epson eradication" process thread was cited. I've had to do a few such things in the past, they've always "put me in detention" for hours and the instruction failure rate was about 80%. That thread didn't improve that score. When I got to this bit: 5. Clic...

Re: Scanner is working, but no longer in "Select Twain Sourc
Again, thanks for the persistence & clear instructions; makes this much more heartening! Please run Registry Editor ( regedit.exe ), go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Twain and tell us what the value for Default Source is. It should be C:\Windows\twain_32\escndv\pe...

Re: Scanner is working, but no longer in "Select Twain Sourc
Ah, I may have got the idea; I've found the start, cache & scan sections in the ini file (that the sections cited weren't in the alphabetic order used by the ini threw me for a while). I've saved a copy of the original file under a different folder + "old" name for safety. Do I just add the lines in...

Re: Scanner is working, but no longer in "Select Twain Sourc
Well, I'm finally back in the fray; trying to grasp this: Besides that, you could also try a hidden option (introduced in v1.97) which did the trick for me and my Samsung SCX-4100: newMethod=0 / 1 [Start] SavingMode=1 ParamsSavingMode=1 [Cache] SavingMode=1 IsActive=0 [Scan] newMethod=1 Note: Please...
