Re: Append PDF

I would like to have an option to append an existing PDF file with the content I want to save. In the save file dialog I select an existing file and click save. A confirmation dialog pops up, where I can choose if I want to overwrite the existing file or not. Here I would add a button "append". It ...

Re: Converting Grayscale file to JPEG

Good point, JPEG does indeed only support 8-bit depth grayscale (256 levels)... But using the -grey forcing switch without a num value didn't work, but perhaps surprisingly any of the small number of num values I tried did produce the required result. Of course, those values could produce a valid P...

Re: Converting Grayscale file to JPEG

...produces the expected JPEG, but the created file seems to have 256 'colours' whatever num value is used... [Unexplained.] I believe that's because the JPEG/JFIF file format doen't support these bit depths : 2-bit grayscale ~ 4 levels of gray 3-bit grayscale ~ 8 levels of gray 4-bit grayscale ~ 1...

Re: Grayscale file to JPEG [Code error or Bug?]

this picture has a greyed colormap, so you need to force with -grey Thanks, the Help files gives the option as: -grey num : Convert in Grey Scale (256, 128, 64, 32, 16, 8 or 4) Inserting -grey 64 into the above code: nconvert -grey 64 -out jpeg -q 80 Test.tif ...produces the expected JPEG, but the ...

Re: Wrong file names

Please see this recent thread: Warning: 'Error opening the file'

You may need to change a setting in Windows in order to read characters correctly in non-Unicode programs.

Alternatively, XnView MP supports Unicode... :D

Re: Batch for IPTC Tags

... I did not see that this tool could do batch processing, not just conversions ! NConvert or XnConvert? With command line NConvert, files in the same directory can be batch converted by using a wildcard ( * ) in the input term at the extreme right. And in a batch file .bat, it is possible to call...

Re: Zoom less to 5%

I have a TIFF, approx. 20.000 * 40.000 Pixel. When I press "Zoom - fit to screen", I get a Zoom factor of 4%. When I press "Zoom -", then nothing happens. Looking at the list of Zoom factors, is runs from 7% to 1600%. Is it impossible to use "Zoom -" under a current factor of 7%? Hi Peter (-: In Xn...

Re: Disable new version check

Maybe I did not quite correctly ask the question, with which key did I mean, or is it possible to install with the answer file with the pre-set parameter "never check" You wish to install XnView Classic on multiple computers, configured so that it never checks for updates? If you use the installer,...

Re: xn-view warning

I think you can probably configure your British computer the same way as your Greek computers by changing the Windows 'System Locale'... :D

This is the Control Panel setting in Windows 7, if necessary Google for your version of Windows:

Re: Rotate without saving

... if I use the Previous/Next buttons in view mode, I'm asked for each rotated photo if I'd like to save it, which is a little bit disturbing if I only want to view a serie of photos. Maybe a triple choice could be a possible solution: Save-it = Yes | No | Never for this session. Just an idea. I w...
