Re: Please elaborate on "this picture will be converted to rgb ..."

What is the purpose in warning users of this? Who cares? Users can do nothing with this information, and It is alarming. Consider the time I've wasted (including a bit of yours) because of this message. This occurred within 2 minutes of my first trial run of XnView, and frankly, it has turned me of...

Re: Please elaborate on "this picture will be converted to rgb ..."

When a file is opened in XnView software the bitmap created that is used for any further processing or saving, is 24-bit depth; the original file opened is unaltered, so there is no reason for concern there. You could test using a copy of a higher bit depth file to confirm that. The warning message ...

Re: Color Separatoin | High Contrast B&W

I am seeking something like a eye dropper (like in Gimp I think?) that I can use to identify a color, then with that HEX value change that color to another one. Maybe I am ahead of myself? There is likely a way to see the value of particular pixels, but I don't think there is a way to globally chan...

Re: Option to disable XnView from starting up whenever we view an image in fullscreen mode

Whenever you open an image to be viewed in fullscreen mode, after pressing ESC to exit, XnView program is automatically opened and shows that same image. I find that intrusive, it would be nice to have an option to disable XnView from automatically opening whenever we view an image in fullscreen mo...

Re: Filelist option - Help file shows incorrect syntax?

Resolved I think: The issue seems to have been related to the detailed format of the filelists used, correct output is now obtained with either -l or -L . For reference the following filelist, with each filename on a separate line, works: Input\1.jpg Input\2.jpg Input\3.jpg Input\4.jpg That is the f...

Re: [BUG] Recursive actions instead of source files treatment

do you use hotfolders? You mean that ? No, i'm not using this. On the XnConvert Input tab at bottom left, there is a Hot folders... button, you have no folders entered there? Note : In some language versions the text label may potentially cause confusion, a while back 'Favorites' in the local langu...

Re: Filelist option - Help file shows incorrect syntax?

-l or -L can be used I'm getting different results with -l and -L ... The following code works correctly with -L but not with -l when using the filelist below: nconvert.exe -o binder.tiff -multi -out tiff -c 7 -L Filelist.txt Input\1.tif Input\2.tif Input\3.tif Input\4.tif When using the fol...

Filelist option - Help file shows incorrect syntax?

The NConvert help file give the following syntax for the filelist option:

Code: Select all

-l file : Use file as filelist

But using the option, the correct syntax seems to be:

Code: Select all

-L file : Use file as filelist
That is uppercase L, as used in various early posts such as this one.

Re: Rotate TIFF : Export Exif Data : Import RAW

Brand new. Not much experience with sophisticated digital photography yet. What I am trying to do it archive 8.5 x 11 documents, some typed with most handwritten on school notebook paper. The lot is somewhere upwards of 5,000 pages. Some go way back and are very faded. They will need photo restorat...

Re: Adjust Morphology in NConvert?

In case it is of any help to others (though it seems unlikely this is a common problem) I have groped my way to a reasonable point by telling the scanner that it is reading black and white graphics (quite the opposite of the old scanner where claiming black and white text was the ticket). But this ...

Re: Program crashes when moving first file

By clean .ini, do you mean the default program configuration after install? Just uninstall xnview with revo uninstaller, also removed all files left behind and registry entries, then reinstalled. No, it won't do it now. But the interface is very much not to my liking in default. For example, I turn...

Re: Adjust Morphology in NConvert?

I have been using nconvert quite successfully as part of a front end for optical mark recognition. Recently, however, my workplace converted all scanners to a new manufacturer and my recognition rate has fallen apart. One wonders why images from the new scanner are significantly different, possibly...

How can one grip / drag a viewed image with the mouse without pressing CTRL but only by keeping the left mouse button? Tools > Settings... > Interface -- Mouse tab -- Left button -- Move picture  XnView MP is very configurable, so it might be worth browsing other settings while you are there.
