terrible jpg quality after resize

Hi Forum,

I use nconvert.exe version 7.110 to resize (compress) jpg files in a folder to save on size.
The result is terrible, pictures very "pixely" and definitely a large diversion from the originals.
i played around with the parameters, and either the quality remains acceptable but at a large ...

Image from Clipboard saves under other user credentials

I take a screenshot (into the clipboard).
Paste in xnView, save to desktop as Clipboard1.jpg
Then open windows explorer - no file to see ...
I check the disk with an admin account - and there you go, the file is there.
xnViewMP saves clipboard / new files to a different user account (which is not ...

Default Filename for Scanning (TWAIN/WIA)

When scanning, xnViewMP allocates a filename something like Scan-YYYY-MM-HH-mm, i.e. the minute gives the filename's max resolution.
If one scans 2 or more files in the same minute then a filename conflict arises when saving the files.
For my mode of occasional scanning this is really tedious ...

Re: Scanner in XnViewMP

Oh Pierre, thank you for the reply.

I dont know how to find out which driver (32 or 64 bit) the HP setup installed. Did not find any hints on Google, however someone at amazon reported that "its disappointing that HP has no 64 bit drivers for this printer ...). So I assume they have 32 bit drivers ...

Scanner in XnViewMP

My Scanner does not appear in XnViewMP Version 0.72 x64 (Dec 19 2014).

Windows 7, 64bit.
Scanner is a HP OfficeJet Pro 8620.
The HP scanner software works perfectly, so the scanner is well installed and working.

Just in XnViewMP nothing happens at all when i click the scanner symbol.
Also nothing ...

How to "Batch" several commands via Icon in the Viewer?

I regularly scan a few pages or have a few photos to perform the following on:

- resize to 1024 x 768
- normalize the colors
- automatic contrast
- automatic level

I did that via Toolbar-Icons and the integrated cmd_xxxx Commands.
Is there a way that to integrate all commands into one batch ...

Re: Can't Open Files with Some Special Characters

I am encountering the same problem at the moment.
Double-Clicking an Image file with Chinese Characters in its path from Windows Explorer brings up an xnView dialog with an error message that contains the ????? characters where the Chinese Characters should be.

This effect just happens on one ...

nconvert 6.21 does not expand parameters of add_text

According to http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=25734&p=103453&hilit=text#p103453 the expansion of metadata options should be integrated in nconvert.

I am using nconvert Version 6.21, Win7 x64.

An xnConvert saved for nconvert script created the following output:

nconvert option -D deletes input files if used a second time

I am still trying to automate some regular procedure I do with my images.
I wrote a batch file with several invocations of nconvert (version 6.21, Win7 x64) to perform the individual steps, e.g. rotate, re-size, normalize, rename, add text.
It might make sense to use the batch a second time, after ...

Re: Serious Flaws : Text adding, deleted files, renaming fea

Pierre, I just now have a set of images to reproduce some error. Please PM me your email then I can forward the pics.
I'll include the session settings for xnView, too - is there a logfile or settings-file which is sufficient for you to see all settings?

Update: I found a workaround in my settings ...

Re: Serious Flaws : Text adding, deleted files, renaming fea

I work on my pictures in 2 steps:

There is a flaw in XnConvert, which led to loss of pictures and videos:
If in Step 2) an image is too small, to take the added text, xnView goes nuts and overwrites other images, duplicates others ... I could not find the regularity here, however, a major flaw.
Do ...
