Re: improvement of " Compare" function
Indeed, you can (and I do) pan with the left mouse button. The point is 'where is the main subject' ? Just an example. I took 3 photos of a bird in flight against the blue sky background. But the bird is small or far away, so that it takes only a small part of image and usually is not at the centre ...

improvement of " Compare" function
Hello, I am a big fan of the "compare" function, which is an easy and very useful means to compare 2, 3 or 4 photos. However, there is an issue (bug?) when 3 or 4 large photos are compared zoomed at 100%: if one of them is removed (closed or deleted), the system automatically reorganizes the space t...

A related question: no means to save the DPI change through lossless transformation rather than 'lossy full saving' for JPEG files ?

Re: 1.5.3: Cannot open latest reference JPEG-XL jxl files
I was not able to download v. 1.5.3 (download starts but fails after a few seconds), but I could made some tests with v. 1.5.2 (on win 10 64 pro). Jxl files generated from png (using lossly coversion) or jpg (using lossless conversion, i.e. direct transcoding) with cjxl 0.9.0 can be read without any...

Re: 1.5.2 - horrible opening performance for JPEG XL (several times slower than other viewers)
Hi, I made some tests (on win64). Indeed, for huge images, viewing is far longer for jxl than for jpg. Not a big issue in my view because for images with a 'reasonable' size (say up to UHD) viewing is almost instantaneous for both jpg and jxl. According to jxl developers, jxl code is slower to run t...

Better JXL integration in XnviewMP
Hi, 2 suggestions for a better integration of jxl files 1) replace the add-on 'exiftool.exe' by a more recent version (versions <= 12.60 are unable to read brotli-compressed metadata, which is the usual way metadata are stored in jxl files). 2) add (both in browser and viewer modes) an entry in the ...

Re: Add an A/B slider to Compare Tool
No such problem for me on win 10. I can use the slider A/B on files of different format, e.g. a .tif vs. a .jpg file. The only (quite obvious) constraints are 1) Only two files can be compared with the slider, where the other modes accept 2 to 4 files 2) the two files must have exactly the same widt...

Oups, sorry, false alert: I attempted to use the slider A/B with two images with different sizes. With two images with the same size, it works as expected

Re: 1.5.0b1-2 crop+image treatments
Fixed in beta3. Thanks.
In turn, the slider A/B of the compare tool stops working in beta3 (win 10 64 bits)

1.5.0b1-2 crop+image treatments
Hello, A bug which appears in 1.5.0 (b1 and b2, not present in 1.4.5) is as follows (on windows 10 64 bits) 1) If the image is cropped directly using the mouse, it can be submitted to additional treatments (e.g. resize) offered by the image tab, as expected. 2) If the image is cropped after having a...

Re: Add an A/B slider to Compare Tool
Hello, The new tool A/B is great! However, currently, this tool works only when 2 images have been initially selected. Thus, if I initially compare 3 or 4 images, and then remove or delete 1 or 2 to keep only 2, the slider A/B cannot be activated (at least on windows 10 64 bits). It would be even gr...

Re: Behaviour of "compare" (shift C)
Hi,
No way to have"compare" with 4 images behaving as with 2 or 3? (i.e. deleting one of them leads to an automatic reorganization)
I have just tested with on MP 1.4 (64 bits on windows 10 pro), the issue is still present.
Thanks
simon

Re: XnView Shell Extension HEIC
With the new LibJPEGXL.dll, v1.1.6 behaves just as v.1.1.5: conversion to jpeg-xl is now possible again, but without access to any parameter, and this results in lossless conversion

Re: XnShell doesn't support *.avif format
The package is still called 4.1.5 but contains v 4.1.6. But on the 3 computers I can use (1 running on win7 pro x64 and 2 running on win10 pro x64) there are still issues for converting files into jpeg-xl, avif and heic.
