Ok, you are the expert. The only thing I want to tell: if I export this kind of images into any other application in Windows then the transparency is lost. But if I open them from the file system everything is ok.
For me it's happening with images that has color palette with a non-zero index ...

Re: XnView does not paste alpha channel data into clipboard
According to my understanding the problem is with exporting to clipboard, not with importing from clipboard.
AFAIK this kind of the images are displayed wrong in all applications if we use the image exported from XnView and imported to the different kinds of applications.

Re: XnView does not paste alpha channel data into clipboard
What do you mean? If you repeat the steps above you loose transparency of the background.
Is that the desired behaviour?
If not: Could it be fixed?
Please check with the given picture.
Update: If the transparent colour is the index 0 then the Ctrl+V works. But the if the transparent is other than ...

Dear Pierre
Here is the file I used for that test: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/download/file.php?id=1319
But you can easily create an image like this in XnView:

Re: Adjusti Brightness/Contrast/Gamma/Balance for SELECTION
So it is working this way:
- Converting the image to 32 bits (Image > 32 Bits)
- Adjust the selection
- Converting back to Palette (Image > Convert to Colours)
- Setting the transparent colour again (Image > Edit Palette > (Select colour)+ (Enable transparency) then (OK) )
Actually it was my fault ...

XnView does not paste alpha channel data into clipboard
XnView does not copy the alpha channel data to clipboard. In case of an image with palette it does not copy the information which is the transparent colour of the palette.
For experimenting I copied the same transparent image into XnView itself:

Re: Win32: Alpha channel clipboard format
XnView doesn't seem to support the alpha channel when pasting an image. It always appears opaque.
For me this is still an issue. I opened my transparent png directly from Word and then copy-pasted through selection and clipboard (XnView 2.0.4 in Win 7).

Re: Adjusti Brightness/Contrast/Gamma/Balance for SELECTION
Ok, here is the result of my investigations:
This function works fine until I make the image paletted (Image > Convert to colours).
On paletted images that happens:
...and yes: I first made the selection and then did the adjustments.

Re: Adjusti Brightness/Contrast/Gamma/Balance for SELECTION
For me it's not: it applies the changes to the whole image, not the selection only.
Additionally if I adjust Hue/Lightness/Saturation, then it additionally TURNS OFF the transparency of the PNG.
I use XnView 2.0.4 on Windows 7.

Adjust Brightness/Contrast/Gamma/Balance for SELECTION ONLY
Is there a way to adjust Brightness/Contrast/Gamma/Balance for SELECTION ONLY?
Image > Adjust > Brightness/Contrast/Gamma/Balance does that for the whole image.
Filters work for selection but I haven't found any suitable Filter.
Regards
Bence
