Unfortunately still not working. At home I will upload the nconvert which I downloaded with an example exr file and the plugin I used. maybe you can see the mistake.

I thought so. I downloaded the plug in from the Addon page here. can it be that the plugin package is only 32bit?

Thats it. I used the 32 bit version and it works now. Is it a bug that it is not working in 64bit?

Yes, I have it in the Plugins folder. An older version of nconvert is in the same folder like the new nconvert. The old is working.
IlmImf.dll is from Feb. 13 2012 964.608 bytes. I downloaded it also from your page.

Missing OpenEXR support in nconvert 6.88?
Hi, it seems that OpenEXR is not available in v. 6.88 from nconvert. In the help it was removed and when I try to convert an exr I get the message that the file format is unknown.

I attached a screenshot where you can see that the thumbnail is not showing the red ball because in the alpha it is black.

I have the same exact problem with the alpha in the thumbnails. My picture has a black alpha channel. Now in the viewer the picture is shown correct but in the thumbnail view I see nothing because the alpha is black.
