Helmut, I agree that the selector is really a specialized tool, of little use unless one is changing a color palette. I would like to see a toggle button, with the tool normally off. Those dexterous enough to seek out individual color pixels will probably be able to turn it on ...

The color selector is on all the time when viewing images - even black and white. It's pretty distracting, with the yellow tool tip following behind. Is there a setting to turn it off?
