I thought I had tried all settings and I even knew of this setting in Startup. Somehow it was my fault, sorry.

Same here. Deleting or renaming XnView\AddOn\xmp.dll is a quickfix so you don't need to uninstall and reinstall xnview.

Missing smooth scroll in thumbnail pane
F.e. when viewed as "Thumbnails & Details" the rows jump when you scroll so you can't follow with your eye where you are or where you come from.
