1.8.7 - startup behavior

I did some testing on startup behaviors (XnView MP v1.8.7).

Premises

Since the startup settings are not very clear, I have used the following rules to determine what is correct behavior:


"Save session on program exit" means "at startup, open (Viewer) tabs that were open in previous session ...

You start-with-file and as result you want:

1 tab @ file + previous tabs (currently not possible in XnView) it works for me

The rework covers the following use-cases:

You start-with-file and as result you want:


1 tab @ file
1 tab @ file + previous tabs (currently not possible in XnView)
1 tab @ file + previous tabs + Browser @ empty directory (currently not possible in XnView)
1 tab @ file + previous tabs ...

Browser checkbox cannot be removed as app can start w/o Browser tab (<Empty> tab will be opened)


I see. Do you know if the <Empty> tab has a purpose? Can you do something with it?


"Save session.." combobox cannot be replaced with single checkbox

To recap, the current startup options are:

Start with file:

Viewer in tab mode
Viewer in fullscreen mode
Browser in tab mode
Browser in fullscreen mode


Start without file:

Empty tab
Browser at unspecified directory
Browser at latest directory

1.8.2: Browser startup directory

XnView: MP 1.8.2 64 bit
OS: Windows 10 64bit

XnView Browser does not start in the specified directory.

To reproduce:

Open " Settings " dialog via menu or via default shortcut F12.
Go to " General > Startup > Start without file "
Check " Open browser "
Specify some path for " Directory ...

Thanks for the reply.

I understand that one should not expect an exact match because Photoshop uses a different color engine .

However, I did a few more tests, and I think you might have set the LCMS Black Point Compensation (BPC) flag to disable because when I disable it in Photoshop, the images ...

I have a display with a color profile and Xnview with the General > ICC settings.

I'm comparing some images (with embedded sRGB IEC61966-2.1) between XnView and Photoshop.
I've noticed that the images don't exactly match, and the difference is more evident in the blacks.
