Subject: 1.6.2: JPEG-XL decoder needs update for 0.10 encoded images
XnView: MP 1.6.2 - 64 bit OS: Windows The recent update to the development version of the JPEG-XL decoder is not backward compatible - to be specifiic, the older decoder has a bug that didn't matter up until now. Alas, all images encoded with 0.10 are not readable anyore, so the lib for XnViewMP nee...

Re: 1.3.1: Broken back-fordward navigation for non-default image extensions
'include' can't be used for that. Try to disable 'Settings>File list>Recognize only by extension'? I've disabled "Recognize only by extension" and the .vtx files (i.e. every extension which is an image) show up without adding the extension to the include list. However, back-fordward navigation with...

1.3.0: Custom image extensions and/or "Include" back-fordward navigation
XnView: MP 1.3.0 - 64 bit OS: Windows 10 64bit I'm using an app which uses a custom image extension - .vtx are jpeg files with some custom metadata. I've added this extension to the "include" extension list, but navigation back/fordward (with cursor keys os the mouse wheel) when viewing an image doe...

Animated JPEG-XL
Using XnViewMP 1.0 on x64 Windows (10), XnViewMP doesn't play animated jpeg-xl - it just shows the first frame. This new image format is able to significantly reduce the size of animated gif clips, like this one: https://acegif.com/wp-content/gifs/the-end-1.gif ... attached in a zip file is the gif ...

Re: Sort files by random order
I made this suggestion back in April: https://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=40337 +1 I'm missing a Sort by->ranrdom, too - it would be nice to have a semi-static random image order without the constraints of the slideshow mode. I'd use it for blind image selection (like getting the 'bes...

Re: patent free AVIF image format (AV1 key frame)
This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.96 . Please check and confirm the bug fix here. I can confirm it's working on Win64 - thanks! I tried yuv444 and yuv400 images with 8, 10 and 12 bit depth. Firefox and Chrome support .avif now, too. There seems to be a bug with rgb lossless images...

The external decoder aomdec could be used just like other drop-in decoders ... ... current Windows build aomdec.exe: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/marcomsousa/build-aom ... source code: https://aomedia.googlesource.com/aom/+/refs/heads/master ExifTool supports .avif by now, Browser support is comi...

Re: patent free AVIF image format (AV1 key frame)
*ping* The avif is the still image format of av1, basically a modern webp (which is based on vp8). There is native support in recent Windows versions, but not in 1809 Enterprise builds or other older LTSC/LTSB versions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AV1#AV1_Image_File_Format_(AVIF) => Since av1 seem...

Re: animated webp
In comparison with QuickViewer (https://kanryu.github.io/quickviewer/), XnViewMP (I'm using Win10 x86 and x64) has a larger delay upon loading larger animated .gif files - this is more noticeable when flipping though files on a network drive. Quickviewer is simply faster/leaner, but this is by no m...

Re: patent free AVIF image format (AV1 key frame)
Unfortunately, these formats don't support lossless mode, so webp's excellent implemenation will keep being around for that. That's not true in any way, shape, or form. AV1 lossless fits inside AVIF just fine. (As does HEVC lossless in HEIC.) There is no H.264 support in HEIF. WebP is trash and the...

Indeed gif animation isn't very fast, why not very fast?? Re: Support for HEIC
It's supported on Mac with 0.93.1: https://www.xnview.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=1566
Btw the heic "format" is a subset of heif - so supporting this (with built-in free codec implementation and external mpeg) probably is the way to go: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=38649

Re: patent free AVIF image format (AV1 key frame)
Here's the final spec (needs formal approval from the board though): https://aomediacodec.github.io/av1-avif/ And here's a rather interesting presentation with pdf on the format ... the heif image container is generic and has different extensions for still/animated av1, x265 and x264: https://develo...

Re: "Show all files (recursive)" menu item
What are you talking about? Can you be more precise? You've got images in nested subfolders like ... images\a\1.jpg images\b\2.jpg images\c\a\3.jpg images\c\b\3.jpg ... and want to view all at once in the thumbnail browser. Usually, you'd probably expect such an option in the menus somewhere near "...
